After you dip the apple, you need to scrape off some of the caramel or you might have a puddle of caramel at the bottom of your apple. We chopped up some peanuts and made some of them nutty caramel apples! Then, of course, big bro Seth had to walk in and inspect how things were going. (more…)

Caramel apples

Sophie tried her hand at making Carmel apples today! Ok, yum…The caramel wasn’t as good as the stuff they use at The Appleworks, but it will have to do. Here she shows the steps of what to do. We found this caramel dipping stuff at Gordon’s Food Service, in Greenwood. First, put your apples in warm water to warm them up to room temperature. Next, get out parchment paper or use a greased cookie sheet to put the apples on. Put the sticks in next, and then get ready for dipping. You need to follow the directions on the box (more…)

Fall and wood burning…

Outside enjoying the serious changing of the leaves today! Wow! They all seemed to change overnight on about Tuesday of last week. Seems like the weather is a little cooler than usual for this time of year. I had to turn the heat on today, Oct 11, to get the 60 degrees outta here!~in the house! Seth started a fire in the upstairs fireplace just to see how the wood would burn. We finished cutting our wood a little late, so some might be a bit green still.
